Join A Cause And Help Other Families
I became aware of this organization for the first time this year from a lady in my women’s bible study. They actually just started this fundraiser last year so this was only their second year. After she explained what Free Throws for Kids was all about I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of. Playing basketball has always been a passion of mine and knowing that I could use my love for basketball to help families who are going through a lot. Let’s just say, “Where can I sign up?” came out of my mouth right away.
What Is Free Throws For Kids?
Free Throws For Kids this year had over 300 teams shooting 500 free throws for kids & families at the Pediatric, Neonatal & Cardiac Intensive Care Units at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The money raised is used to show love & hope by surprising the kids & their families with gift bags that include gas cards for the many trips to and from the hospital, cafeteria gift cards for the day-after-day meals in the hospital, toiletries, Dream Dinners frozen meals for family members at home and more. These simple responsibilities, we take for granted, become a big challenge and these families need help. Through Free Throws for Kids, we are making a positive impact on the amount of time a family can spend together.
Make A Difference
I was super happy to be able to do this fundraiser with my husband. I highly recommend doing a fundraiser or something similar with someone special in your life. I felt like it brought us closer together because we were on the same team cheering each other on and we knew that what we were doing was helping other families. I am happy to report that this small community group coming together to make a difference raised over $45,000 last year and this year Free Throws For Kids raised over $100,000. I encourage you to join a fundraiser or make a new one from whatever your passion may be. After this experience I can see that a simple idea can make a difference when you put it into action.You Can Make A Difference!!
