Your Body – Your Temple

One of the biggest blessings we have is the gift of life, the gift to experience this world and all its wonders, to see the beauty and to experience the love that this world has to offer. The reason why we are able to experience so much is that our bodies are made up of complex emotions, feelings and reactions that carry us through each adventure and obstacle we encounter. As you read this, there is so much happening within our bodies – neurons are working overtime, hormones are raging, your senses are always aware of the touch, smells and sights around us. To put it simply, our bodies are quite extraordinary and we should be doing all we can to preserve and nurture them just like the saying goes, your body is your temple.

In this article, we look at good habits to start implementing in our everyday life for a healthier and happier body.

Awareness

Awareness is the first step to take when you start your health journey. Being aware of what you are putting into your body and what nutrients it is lacking is a crucial bit of information. Nutrient deficiencies can lead to many health risks and complications so it is vital that you supplement your body with the nourishment it needs.  From moringa to omega-3 and biotin, you can get more information here on Reviewy. Hydrate

Many of us are guilty of forgetting to drink enough water each day. Water accounts for about 50-60% of our bodies and plays a vital role in maintaining bodily functions such as regulating temperature, digestion, removing waste, protecting tissues, joints and the spinal cord. It is also crucial for maintaining healthy skin. Ensuring that you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day will ensure that you are hydrated, revitalized and will give your skin that glowing shine.

A Spring In Your Step

A positive mind and attitude can do wonders for one’s soul and body. Things that seem mundane don’t have to, just by finding enough appreciation and enthusiasm, you can start looking at those things in a different light. Take walking to the shop or subway for example, you may feel like you don’t want to have to do it or that you wish you had a car but start looking at it this way instead – you have been blessed with legs that are strong and functioning, these legs carry you around from place to place and walking is a breeze for you. For others who do not have mobility of their legs, they are wishing that they could walk to their destinations instead. Start appreciating what you have and show thanks when you head on your morning walk to the station or shop rather than viewing it as a task, the exercise will do more good for your body than you think.

Mood Food

As we have mentioned before, a positive mind and attitude can have lasting effects on your health, however, have you ever stopped to think about the foods you have been putting into your body and if those foods have a positive effect on your mood? Take sugar for example, when you eat a chocolate or candy bar, your body reacts by producing an excessive amount of insulin that results in a drop in glucose which causes the body to release adrenaline, a chemical responsible for anxiety, palpitations and sweating. This could leave you feeling irritable and moody once the effects of the “sugar high” have worn off. If you have noticed this mood trend before, it may be time to cut back on the caffeine or sugar and switch to a healthier diet. Eating wholesome vegetables and fruits such as bananas, lentils, spinach, kale and oats is a sure way to supercharge your positivity and boost your mood.

Love Yourself

This is one of the most important steps to take on your healthy lifestyle journey. By falling in love with yourself and learning to appreciate who you are as a person, you will start to become more aware of how you treat your body. When you feel insecure or start criticizing yourself, chances are that you won’t really take a second thought about what you are eating and how it may be affecting you. We are always our harshest critics and while it may be easier said than done, you need to start realizing that you are abundantly blessed, unique, special, smart, beautiful and most of all you need to start realizing that you are loved and that your loved ones want you to be healthy, happy and around them for many years to come.
